A trip to Scarbrough on Saturday to play the penny waterfalls with the kids (now 2p waterfalls ) revealed a uniquely Yorkshire spelling.

Can’t spell for toffee myself , so loved this !

Wildlife Special Moment

Posted in The Locale by Kate Jones on May 8th, 2008

Coming across the moors Wednesday, I saw an unusual sight. Never seen deer up here before, though many times grazing in the bottom of the dale.

I guess, growing up in the town and having lived here for many years I do still get excited about these things. She was beautiful and moving very fast. Really liked the idea of spending the beautiful day up there with her.

Spring / at last

The Victoria Plum tree shows great promise…. all of a sudden ! Lets hope the blossom sets

2nd Image is one I like of spring in town. Took this thru a dirty taxi window…  the beauty of the light and new growth are not diminshed by it.

Went to an excellent gig last night in Farndale ! A small but beautiful venue in the middle of the moors which has the most amazing gigs ! Its is surreal, beautiful, intimate, atmospheric and just brilliant ! The Band Room, ‘ Englands Tiniest Major Venue’

Two incredible musicians , Corrine West & Walter Strauss. What a night many thanks to the Brooks ’s at Hartoft Cheers.

Daffodils

Posted in The Locale by Kate Jones on April 19th, 2008

This is a beautiful image of the walk round northdale beck, with the iconic Roseale tree topped hill in the background, seen through the trees.

The daffs along the river bank are stunning , the walk is always a bit muddy, its not a ‘user friendly’as the Farndale daff walk…. but it is beautiful, rough, muddy , lots of styles to climb and a massive hill to finish.

This beautiful image was taken by Christines parents on their recent trip to Rosedale.

Rosedale, updale, I hasten to add…… a weird woodpecker has been photographed. It has an extreme beak. Its 120 percent bigger than it should be.

It has been beautiful. 6.30 Easter morning, the light was amazing , and the sun felt warm despite the fresh layer of frozen snow.

I realise that this blog is in danger of becoming a ‘weather’ blog but - once the freezing fog lifted the frost was amazingly thick. Really beautiful but breathtakingly cold ( literally )

11am and still frosty in the shade, but very beautiful ! Parts of the moors still covered in white frost and studio visitors reporting snow still lying about on the top.
Good glass making weather !
