Glassroom 2010 – Pukeberg Sweden

Posted in Travels by Kate Jones on November 23, 2010

Stephen returned having had a great time. It was not about making finished objects, but exploring ideas in hot glass and debating the past present and future of working with hot glass.

Each team was given a theme to explore, Stephen worked with Wilke Adolfsson as part of  team of 7 makers designers and students to explore the theme of Silent Chaos.

If you have an interest in design education the Pukeberg Design School is well worth a visit.

Studio Exhibition / New Beginnngs

Posted in Exhibitions, Studio Stuff by Kate Jones on May 27, 2008

Counting down to showing 12 new pieces of sculptural blown glass in the Rosedale studio.

New cutting, more asymetrical forms and flowing surfaces. Its been good to make a group of pieces and make them successively. Its when the work starts to become self referential that is begins to get interesting and new ways of developing each piece become obvious . Each one a development of the last.

Opening Day June 14th 10am – 4pm

through to July 20th 2008 ( usual studio hours apply )

Went down to London on Thursday 24th for the opening of the Glass House Show. Interesting, eclectic group of pieces, good catalogue charting the important history of the Glass House that was once in Covent Garden and the later Islington.

A good night , with many familiar and many of the first faces of British studio glass.

Lunch time was a discussion, which was made a tricky by a hail storm that all but drowned conversation and the evening was very busy.
