Beautiful light fell over the dale, following a heavy rain storm. The rainbow made it even more marvellous.

Hoping it stays amazing and this years plum blossom stays put. Late frosts last year meant very few autumn fruits.

March 2011

Posted in Rosedale the locale by Kate Jones on March 28, 2011

March came and went very quickly, as did Feb.  The flu virus slowed me to a stop far a considerable length of time. Very pleased spring is now in the air and I am back in the studio picking up the threads of where I left off.  Have been taking some images when the occasion would allow,  March’s image below, good to see the warmth of the suns return cutting through the thick, early morning frost.

The next few months are looking very busy with much to report in the coming weeks.

Dug out and Open !

Posted in Rosedale the locale, Studio Stuff by Kate Jones on November 29, 2010

Winter is truly here and our winter opening hours are upon us.

We will still be working in the studio and using the winter months creatively, (best time of year to blow glass)  and we are open by appointment from 1st Dec until 1st March. Give us a call on 01751 417550 to arrange to visit and of course, the main road to Pickering in pretty much always passable, the moor roads are most often closed… safe journeys.

Sundays Walk

Posted in Rosedale the locale by Kate Jones on November 28, 2010

Much more snow yesterday and still snowing today. Visited the icicle bridge and it was worth the effort of wading thru the snow.

Long Shadows

Posted in Rosedale the locale by Kate Jones on October 26, 2010

Took this image from the top of Chimney Bank in the early morning light.

Love the colour and clarity of the bracken in the foreground and the length of the autumnal shadows.

October Ice

Posted in Rosedale the locale by Kate Jones on October 26, 2010

The first real hard frost of the year. The beauty of the ice crystals on the roof was more than adequate compensation for the inconvenience of the car doors being frozen solid.

Rivers Up

Posted in Rosedale the locale by Kate Jones on October 1, 2010

All day it has rained…. and rained and rained.

The two becks in Rosedale and now full rivers rising towards the top of their 6ft gullys and crashing together when they meet at the bottom of chimney bank. Very dramatic, very fast flowing and quite scary on the bridge with the crack in it !

Sundays Walk

Fresh snow on the grounds, signs of spring… the first snow drops and Avas shadow hand wanting to pick them…  down by the river , many animal tracks and ice hanging from branches that touch the rivers surface. VV cold, vv beautiful.
