SOFA New York
Internationally recognised for its outstanding cutting-edge contemporary decorative arts and design, the 14th International Sculpture Objects &
Functional Art Fair runs from Thursday 14 April, to Sunday 17 April 2011. Three of our individual pieces have travelled out to New York with our London Gallery, Contemporary Applied Arts (CAA).
Mr Gillies travelled out last year, this year, however, we are staying in Rosedale and only the glass is travelling.

Silver Birch Leaf Bowl
New limited edition of 50 bowls available from 10th January onwards.
The colour shown is a new warm bark brown and we are happy to make the bowl in any of our 19 colours. Please see our bowl web site for the full colour palette.
The leaves of the silver birch tree are the inspiration for this new limited edition of 50 bowls. The tree itself is steeped in folklore, as a symbol of renewal, purification and fertility and it is still one of the first trees to come into leaf in spring ! Which right now can’t come soon enough.
Jasons Bowl
Made a bowl for Jason and the cyclists ! They cycled from one side of the country to the other to raise loads of money for their charities . Liked the finished ‘Wheels’ based design but liked the pattern of the bowl too during the process of its making.
A Yorkshireman in New York
SOFA / New York April 2010
Stephen went to the show, and thanks to the volcano stayed a lot longer than anticipated. Good show of international work and a good selection of makers represented by Contemporary Applied Arts.
Showed the new ‘Bounded Space’ pieces and we will be showing more works from this series at COLLECT in May.
CHASE
Now in its 7th year, pleased that the annual CHASE event at the RCA went well. Some bigger black and white bowls found good homes. Thank you to Mark Holford for the annual effort to organise the glass and raise funds for such a good cause.
In one evening, up to £100,000 is raised for CHASE which is a children’s hospice in Guildford. They do tremendous work in supporting children who are not expected to reach their 19th birthday. It is entirely privately funded and receives no government support. They have to raise over £2m each year and the Exhibition is one of their key fund raising events..For more info go to http://www.chasecare.org.uk.
Champagne Bowls
Nearly at the end of the edition.
Just sent some of the bowls in different colours down to Contemporary Applied Arts for Christmas. 5 now left in the edition of 50.

Our beautiful bowls will remain on the existing site, and can of course be ordered online.
The new site points you in the direction of the galleries we work with to represent the individual works.
